Tall Ships, Newport
watercolor
16x20" mattted and framed

Every few years during the summer
months a flotilla of old sailing ships is
assembled to make a parade of sail to
various seaports along the eastern
coast of The United States. It's an
opportunity for generations born after
such spectacular ships ruled the
waves to see numbers of them
displayed. One of the ports of call is
Newport, Rhode Island. I did this
painting from a photograph I made
while the crowd milled about to see
several of the giant sailing ships
moored in the harbor.
