Marsh Reflections
oil 11x14" sold

This painting, purchased from an
exhibition at the Providence Art Club,
is a fall scene near Wickford, Rhode
Island. The white water lilies floated in
their last blooming, the swamp oaks
were colored by shortening days. A
lovely afternoon with big cumulus
clouds drifting overhead and, just as
clearly, across the smooth surface of
the water. Temperature is one of the
most difficult effects to achieve in a
painting, but I think this one succeeded
in conveying the cool sun and hint of
crispness in the air which characterizes
a mild fall day.
