Last Light, Storm Surf
watercolor 20x26" matted and framed

I like this painting a lot--if I do say so
myself--done at Beavertail rocks at the
end of Jamestown Island in Rhode
Island. Some people might wonder why
the figures are so ill defined in the
foreground. That was actually the point
of this particular work. A painting wants
to be about something, and here I was
struck by the feeling of fragile human
beings watching the power of the sea
after a  storm. The coming darkness
silhouetting people against bright
raging waves seemed to require  the
outlines be literally washed out.
