Man Fishing Off Brenton Point
Oil 5x7" and framed
sold
Although the photo doesn't do justice
to this little painting, it represents a
special mood and moment New
Englanders know. Whenever there's a
high surf, fishermen gather on slippery
far rocks to cast their lines. Fish love
to feed in stuff washed up into the
on-coming stormy waves. The chance
for a good catch is judged worth the
risk--almost every year someone is
washed off such precarious perches.
My fisherman here is on the long
shoreline of Brenton Point in Newport,
Rhode Island. The person who bought
the painting said it was a favorite sight
of his as well as mine.
