Path in Snowy Woods
oil 12x16" and framed
Snow like this doesn't fall often during
a typical winter in Rhode Island, but
does occasionally and, of course,
unfailingly elsewhere northward in New
England. The bushes and branches
are weighted down with heavy snowfall,
the oaks and maples and birch trees
stand bare and cold looking amidst
green pines. Yet such places seem
always peaceful and beautiful to me. I
did this painting from a photo I took
deep in such woods while dressed
warm, and equipped with snowshoes
