Dutch Harbor Boatyard

I was invited to join a group of artists
from the Providence Art Club who get
together to paint in the summertime,
and one morning we visited this
boatyard on Jamestown Island in
Rhode Island. I hope my impression of
the messy confusion where boats are
kept and repaired comes across in this
small watercolor sketch. It now resides,
interestingly enough, in the home of a
fellow artist and her husband who live
in the Catskill Mountains of New York.
The couple was visiting Spring Bull
Gallery in Newport, where the painting
was being exhibited, and found this
scene of the water a nice memory to
bring home. Goes to prove you don't
have to choose between the seashore
and the mountains if you select your
art judiciously.
