Snowstorm, Ocean Shore
oil 11x14" and framed
This picture is somewhat unusual, I
believe. I haven't seem many paintings
of snow falling over the ocean. It's
literally wonderful to walk along the
shoreline in winter, and no less so than
during a storm. To feel such powerful
beauty of nature makes me feel very
alive. I'm both humbled and exhilerated
by the experience. There's a large
painting Jamie Wyeth did of his wife
stretching her head upward to catch
melting snowflakes on her tongue.
She's in an open field rather than by
the ocean, as I recall, but the work
captures the thrill and delight of
experiencing snow storms in wild
places.
