Birds on Telephone Wires
oil 11x14" and framed

A common enough sight in all seasons,
and especially during spring and fall
migrations, this painting combines two
of my loves--birdwatching and
telephone poles. Some people wonder
why artists put telephone poles in their
otherwise pretty landscapes. For me,
they are almost Giacometti-like
sculptures. Birds, of course, are never
slighted from pictures. A seascape
without a seagull seems somehow not
right. They are evocative of so many
things though. Here they are pictured
clinging to the wires of a weathered old
telephone pole, facing the wind and
who knows what else.
